Building movements with the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA)
In collaboration with the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), we led an international trust-building workshop using the Story of Place framework. The session invited participants to ground their work in the histories, relationships, and values of the communities they are part of, creating space for deeper understanding across diverse perspectives.
Through facilitated dialogue and collective storytelling, participants built connections, surfaced shared purpose, and identified pathways for collaboration. The workshop emphasized that lasting change begins with relationships—rooted in trust, mutual accountability, and a shared commitment to stewardship.
The session introduced Story of Place as a framework for rooting innovation in context: inviting participants to locate their work within the specific ecosystems, cultures, and lived experiences that shape and are shaped by technological intervention.
Participants from across science, policy, and community sectors worked through facilitated exercises to surface local histories, map key relationships, and identify shared responsibilities for stewardship. These conversations revealed that durable, regenerative outcomes depend as much on trust, alignment, and community power as on technical readiness.
